Green Gala Goes Gatsby
This year’s Green Gala will be held at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, so let’s do it right. While any resort casual attire is welcome at the Gala, we will hold a costume contest to award prizes to the best 1920’s style costumes. The catch? It’s a Green Gala, so put together your outfit using clothes you already have or reuse something from one of our great local thrift stores! According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, more than 12 million tons of new textiles are created each year, and shopping at thrift stores is a great way to reduce that environmental impact.
There are many costume options for both men and women. Ladies, would you like to be a flapper, debutante, shop girl, or Hollywood starlet for the evening? Guys, how about a gangster, a hepcat jazz musician, or a Wallstreet banker?
Find men’s and women’s costume ideas and DIY how-to’s here.
As a starting point, check out a list of Tulsa’s thrift stores here, but don’t forget about your grandparents’ closets!
