A letter from 2010 chair Michael Christian
As Tulsa’s Young Professionals approaches its fifth anniversary, we can look back at the many tangible accomplishments and realize what a dedicated group of passionate individuals can achieve when they are united in a common goal. Our organization has become one of the largest and most well-respected young professional organizations in the country. This was only possible because of the great leadership and commitment of our members.
As we ring in 2010, many of us will be making New Year’s resolutions. If impacting your community, volunteering with a philanthropic organization, discovering Tulsa or expanding your network is on that list, I truly hope you will reach out to our organization.
Over the next year, TYPros will continue to be led by our nine work crews, including our most recent addition, the Community Redevelopment crew, all of which will be focusing on initiatives within the scope of attracting and retaining young professionals to Tulsa. We will also be joining forces with Junior Achievement (JA), our community partner in 2010, to showcase the impact the organization has in Tulsa.
From an organizational perspective, TYPros will continue to focus on the revitalization of downtown and assisting Tulsa-based employers in the talent recruitment processes. A vibrant downtown is instrumental in the attraction and retention of talented individuals who have the ability to choose the city in which they’re employed. As young professionals with an instrumental voice in the community, we have the ability to affect the outcome of downtown and its development.
We will also continue to strengthen our relationships with employers and assist them in their attraction of young professionals to Tulsa. As we emerge from the economic recession, our Tulsa-based employers have the ability to win the battle for talent. TYPros will be focusing on ways we can augment employers’ recruitment to showcase our city as an exciting place to live, work and play.
Watch for our newsletters as they will provide you with all the information you need to get involved.
I look forward to serving as your Chair in 2010.
Sincerely,
