TYPros member Kelsy Eakin was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Tulsa Metro Chamber at the annual Small Business Awards at a luncheon and program at the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills.
Recipients were selected by the Chamber’s Small Business Council from nominees that exhibited entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to create jobs in the Tulsa area.
Kelsy started her IT services company in 2005 at the age of 21 and has quickly grown the business to a multi-million dollar operation with seven full-time employees. She lives by a motto many of us could learn from: “If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito.”
Small businesses are essential to the American economy, providing the engine that drives innovation and creating the majority of jobs. In fact, 80 percent of Tulsa’s business community consists of small businesses with 10 or fewer employees.
