TYPROS Adventure Series: Grassroots Ranch Tour

Here are 3 good reasons to support local farmers:

  1. Locally grown food tastes better because it has had less time in transit and/or less time to sit around.

  2. Locally grown food helps build communities because when you buy directly from the farmer, you support local farmers who are providing for you as much as they are providing for their own families and other local businesses.

  3. Locally grown food can be better for the environment and for the animals because good farmers ensure that their land is well kept with minimal, if any, usage of chemicals or fertilizers as well as ensure humane and natural habitats for the animals they raise and the surrounding wildlife.

So, let's see what sustainable, local farming really looks like in action. Join us as we visit Grassroots Ranch, just a short 15 minutes from downtown Tulsa where we'll get to tour the ranch, see the animals and chat with local farmers about the benefits of sustainable farming and supporting a local food economy.

Due to the animals' sensitivity to large crowds, the tour is limited to 25 people or less. So, RSVP today!

Sustainability is such a broad philosophy that encompasses so many topics, from waste and energy management, to nature and conservation and a healthy lifestyle. At our August meeting, we'll be breaking up into small groups (also known as "sub-crews") to dive into a few topics that have always been of interest to our members:

  • Bringing recycling to Tulsa apartments and businesses

  • Coordinating nature/river clean-up efforts around Tulsa

  • Planning exciting outdoor adventures for this fall

  • Or, if you have a topic you think would make a great sub-crew, bring your idea to the meeting and make your own sub-crew!

In preparation for the event, we want to brainstorm ideas with fellow Urbanists Crew members for our crew’s parklet. Whether you've been to an Urbanists Crew meeting before or not, we'd love to have you join us.

TYPROS Pub Club: The Tulsan Bar

Join us for our July Pub Club as we check out The Tulsan Bar! Blue Dome's newest hangout, The Tulsan Bar serves up refreshing cocktails and beers in a fun, casual environment. We're also a big fan of its name.

Pub Club gives TYPROS members a time to connect with each other every month at a local restaurant or bar. TYPROS is also bringing back its micro-orientation for newbies at the beginning of every Pub Club. If this is your first TYPROS event or if you're interested in a refresher, please join us from 5:30-6 p.m. to learn about crews and a brief breakdown of TYPROS. Everyone else, feel free to join at 6 p.m. for Pub Club.

Proceeds from TYPROS Pub Club events support the TYPROS Foundation as well as the people and businesses that call Tulsa home.
